  • Slide Notes:

Last session we discussed Automated Summarization and made a point of mentioning that most current tools can only produce extracts (an output which only contains content that existed in the source material). This session, we look at its more cutting-edge "cousin", Text Generation. With this technology, we will be able to produce an output which contains material which does not explicitly exist in the source material, such as an abstract. This is significant, because this is a "more semantic" application that allows us to extract previously unused value from material, not just compress it into smaller, easier-to-digest bites.
